The Toxic Cycle of Inaction

Taking action can seem daunting, whether that be starting a new business or pursuing something you’ve always wanted to do. The uncertainty and fear can be crippling but, the consequences of inaction can be far greater than any failure you will experience.

The cycle of Inaction.

The cycle of inaction is a negative feedback loop which re-enforces your sub-conscious and kills your ability to make progress. Let me walk you through it.

Imagine you have recently started up a small business. You are in the early stages, still excited about the prospects of being an entrepreneur and the rewards that come with it. You put in long hours, motivated to make it work. Weeks and months pass, progress is slow but you are gradually building up momentum.

You keep working, but as time goes by, you feel stagnated. The progress is slow and your lack of experience is beginning to show. Your initial excitement is withering away and the harsh reality of being a business owner is setting in. The future of your business and your ability now seems uncertain.

This uncertainty, feelings of anxiety and stress, cloud your mind and thoughts of failure creep in. You start to question whether starting the business was the right choice, whether you have what it takes, whether you should just quit and choose a different path.

These thoughts eat away at you. As you spend more of your time dwelling about the possibilities of failure, the business you were once passionate about, turns into a burden. The effort required to progress and improve, seems like a grind. As the effort declines, slowly but surely, so does progress. Any momentum you built up, diminishes. You are now stuck, in the cycle of inaction.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Entrepreneurship is tough, but not impossible. Many people throughout history have achieved great things and you can too. The only way to do so, is my taking action. Keep your subconscious at bay and focus on getting things done. Progress is slow but exponential in nature. Consistent action will help you enter positive loop, one which will provide further motivation and fuel greater ambitions.

Just take Action.
